Behind the name ZIADORA

Have you ever been in a limbo state of mind pondering to name your child? Uncle din intends to name the baby that reflect Islamic virtues and lil’ bit of Arabic resemblance.. A concoction of both... I don’t mind that.. So each one of us prepared our own list of names and scrutinizing every name..and suddenly, it made me reminisce my childhood……

Mama told me that in the 80’s preggers have to guess and wait until labor to identify the baby’s gender. Since I’ve already had 2 elder brothers, my parents thought that the 3^rd child might be a boy too. So they prepared to name me “Ahmad Ziad Bin Ibrahim”.. Allah Maha Berkuasa…Mama’s prayers were answered when she finally gave birth to a baby girl..but then again, out of the excitement, they noticed that they did not prepared a girl’s name..finally, after putting much thought into it, Baba decided to name me as “Ziadora Binti Ibrahim”..

I did asked them the inspiration behind the name..i was hoping for a princess’s name but it turn out to be it was inspired by this lady:-

Pia - Zadora

Baba said that she was as famous and sultry as Kylie Minogue..when I googled her name, I was very stunned to know that this was whom Baba meant..MAK AAAAAI…but but but….Dora means “Durra- Permata” in Arab so my name does have an Islamic virtue… in fact, i just been made known recently that my full name means Cahaya Permata........Amiiin..

As I'm about to have my own child very soon, I really want my baby to have a nice simple pleasant name. I don’t want her to endure the same childhood like I did..because of my name, guess what I’ve been teased for the past 27 years?
