ICE ROOM @ NILAI 1

MIL was in town attending a wedding reception in Johor and had stayed for several days at my SIL in Sepang which is nearby to Nilai 1. As we were approaching Sepang, they were 1 hour away and we did not have the key to Kak Da’s house. So Ayah detour to Nilai 1 and opted to try having afternoon tea at Ice Room. Apparently he was made known of this place via Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan hosted back then by Serena Redzuan.

The place was marvelous! Gleefully decorated, the staffs were friendly, fast and keep smiling all the time. The concept was interesting too; you just have to write down your order and the staff will manage the rest. Similar to Pak Li Kopitiam laa… So what is this place anyway? I perceived it as a concoction of Ais Kacang & Ice Cream. Ais Kacang + Ice Cream = Snow Ice. Try imagining a hardened ice cream being scraped in a similar manner to ais kacang. In fact, they displayed their retail description at the ordering counter as ‘shaved ice cream’. The word shave kinda bug me though as most of us associate the word shave to personal maintenance and hygiene. Dang~

THE INTERIOR DECORATION

They do have a wide gamut choice of snow ice, milkshakes and smoothies. Besides being a snow base retail, they do have western food too which I notice a few people ordered it and the volume was generous. But I detest the notion to order foods that are not the retail’s expertise. For instance do you order fish & chip from a steak house? Or do you order mushroom soup from a Mamak stall? The retail may offer these choices but I reckon you to order food according to their major. C’mon, be realistic will ya?

THE MENU

We ordered Tropical Mixed Fruit Snow Ice RM9.90 and Soursop Smoothies RM6.00. The snow ice was great! It tasted so good that both us were kinda competing with each other on who gets the most of it. Even little Piya adores the snow ice too but somewhere along the line we tend to ignore her and continue our little competition. Great ambience, great decoration, they also have a TV to kill the time and ample space for children.

Soursop Smoothies @ RM6.00
Tropical Mixed Fruit Snow Ice @ RM9.90

My verdict : RECOMMENDED
