I wonder what's next

Assalamualaikum and hello..

This has been the toughest Ramadhan week thus far…. Hmmmm *sigh….
Baba has been dealing with his diabetes for many years now and he stop taking the insulin 5 year ago. Well, he just had had enough he said. Turning to alternative remedies didn’t help much either and last weekend was the part where I had to draw the line. Enough is enough. It was really painful just to gaze at him; a frail skinny look, like walking a zombie if I may… He looked dreadful and it was really worrying… Although we get to make plenty of jokes about his physiques but jokes aside; he is sick..

I didn’t feel at ease erstwhile in the office. I just don’t. It took me awhile to finally figure out on managing this issue because ironically my job function in PET is to identify & manage potential risk / threat to the business nature so why can’t I manage this palpable risk at home? I took the evening off and went straight home. Lucky me though; a good school friend of mine is a doctor at Klinik Mediviron Denai Alam which is a shy of 5 minute away. Speaking of convenience huh. I made an appointment with him prior persuading baba and inform him surface details of his ailment.

I was extremely glad Baba embrace my good doctor very well. His name is Dr. Prashan. Bless you buddy…. He listened, nodded, voice out his concerns and listened further. Most importantly Dr. Prashan put some senses into him the level of his illness. The worst thing that could ever happen is to fall into a coma and I noticed that information made Baba quite startled. We were strongly advised to go to the hospital as soon as we can. But we kinda need to iftar as well so we manage to make a move at 9.00pm.

Instead of heading to those glamorous private hospitals, we opted for Hospital Selayang instead because Baba doesn’t have insurance. Now you see the importance of having an insurance? Seeking privates would cost us thousands henceforward we put the thought on KIV. We wanted to test the hearsay of government hospitals and vouch the numerous testimonials. The verdict; it was BAD………. Really BAD….. Horrific and unbearable if I may. Poor Baba.

Upon registering, we were directed to the Yellow Zone in the emergency ward. As there were no available beds, we were placed at a sofa for treatment. The ergonomic of the sofa was bad enough which made me ponder how could they allow such thing in the first place? Baba sat there for 4 hours while the insulin drips in via IV tube. I, on the other hand, sat on the freaking cold floor for 4 hours. Speaking of body ache huh. Thankfully Baba responded to the insulin hence we were allowed to go home. It was 2.30am by then.

As I was handling Baba as sober as I can, Piya apparently had a viral fever again. I simply couldn’t fathom why. I really tried as hard as I can to stay awake and soak her at nights but then Red Aunty paid a visit which leads me to be a gone case………. So poor Uncle Din had to care for both of us and yet go to the office the very next day.

This has been a tough week for me. Last week I was grieving for the passing of a model friend and this week I’m stress with Baba’s issue. One thing after another unfolds but by the grace of Allah, everything falls into place. As the dust has settled, you will begin to see the message between the lines…. It is so hard to be strong sometimes but you don’t get to choose fate. Sometimes fate chose you..

My Eid Adha 2013

Salam and hello everyone..

Post Eid Adha : still in the holiday mood. Even though I was here in Shah Alam but I do appreciate every single leave I could put my hands on to be it an annual leave or due to calendar year. So how was my Eid Adha this year? I gotta admit this; not as fun as celebrating it in Kelantan :(  ....

As mentioned in my earlier post, I worked on Monday and surprisingly Uncle Din fetched me from work all alone without any sight of Piya. Piya was left at home with Mak Tok while Uncle Din went out running for errands. Since it was only the two of us, ape lagi.... dating la! Uncle Din brought me to Sunway Piramid and dined at Sushi King for my breaking fast. Buka puasa makan sushi.... fuyooooo... Initially we planned to catch a movie and Uncle Din was already very giddy about the notion. But, deep down inside, it just didn't feel right.. The afterthought really bothered me while we were standing in front of the ticketing lane.. Then as usual I began to miss Piya; wondering whether she is having proper meal at home, has she bathe, what is she doing etc etc etc.... Uncle Din just smiled listening to my trail of thoughts. At that moment, he took my hand and we walked away from the ticketing lane. Alhamdulillah my lovely husband is soooo used of my irresolute stance. Hahaha... How motherhood has changed my sentiment...  Indeed! We head straight to a toy store adjacent to Daiso and we bought her a foldable play house. I wanted to buy so many other things but Uncle Din said "Nih mak ke anak yang nak? Lain kali eh, lain kali...." sambil geleng kepala ok.....

We were awaken at dawn by the serene mellow sound of Takbīr (تَكْبِير)coming from the mosque just down the road. Uncle Din was getting ready for Eid prayer but I didn't follow suit as I gotta have Piya ready and prepare breakfast too. Upon his return from the mosque, we were still not ready yet.. bahahahaa! Moreover, our appointment for beraya was around 11.00am so we still had plenty of time... pfft.. See what held us so long in the bathroom? This missy just started learning to brush her own teeth these days and rather than discouraging her by asking her to expedite the process, I just let her be on her own pace.

We gathered at his cousin's house at Saujana Utama (kot... I think...) and met with other Kelantanese who also did not return for Eid this year. I just sat quietly in front of the TV with Piya eating Laksam and chicken rice.

Got kinda immersed watching this movie though (I seriously had no clue what I was watching...)

When we reached home, much to my surprise that Zeffi & Lina were dining at the main hall. Aaaauuuw I love meeting their kids. All of a sudden Piya became famished and wanted to eat with them too. So Mama kena laa makan lagi! #camnernakkurus????!  And as usual everyone was feeling so drowsy after having a big lunch and they just doze off. I, on the other hand, don't do naps during daytime so I had to babysit the kids. I seriously don't know where the kids got their energy from! They were running around, screaming and laughing and giggling and yelling some more.... Gaaaah...! This is so exasperating.... While the kids were doing their thing, I just sat at lounge watching E! all by myself... Talking about 'me' time huh....

The family departed around 7pm and the funny thing was Lea's remark "Alaaaaa... tak sempat main dengan Piya". Ait?? You have been playing with her for the past 5 hours dude..

Aaaaand that was how our Eid Adha was spent; the urban way. Hope to celebrate the next in Kelantan laaa... In sha Allah..

Reception Khairina & Husband

Just one of the weddings that I've attended last month. Only this time, baba joined us becaaaaaause the bride's family is from Malacca and happens to be his neighbor. It was funny to see him transformed his tongue  abruptly into a Malacca accent upon meeting people from hometown. The reception took place at Dewan Seri Endon Putrajaya and was tremendously beautiful with the bride sparkled in white crystal gown. Auuuuw.... The food was great! So great that I had to pack some of it for Piya. There was a live band too hence the tranquility ambience albeit wedding reception is known for commotion. Hahahaaa... Just sit back, enjoy your music and meal.

On the waaaaay

View from our table... Malas nak gerak gi pelamin dekat2
Ada orang nak makan sendiri
Seronok tgk bunga segar and air basuh tangan yg sgt classic
Happy betol Piya ayah ajar buat 1 Malaysia!
Terjumpa pulak member sekolah; Nik Faiz Nik Nuruddin & Wife
Definitely one of the best wedding reception I attended this year (read: tak attend byk kenduri ok)

Congratulations dear Khairina & husband!

Babysitter terbaik

Assalam & Good day,

InsyaAllah tomorrow will be the beginning of the most anticipated period for all Muslims; none other than the holistic, chaste & divine Ramadhan. Like other wives and mothers, I am no exceptional in preparing a weekly menu for Sahur & iftar. Alhamdulillah this shall be my 2nd experience enduring Ramadhan with my beautiful Durra Elfieya. Another thought exist as an integral part of my mind though. Tomorrow will not only mark the debut of Ramadhan, synonymously tomorrow will also mark Piya’s 1 year anniversary of being under the care of her Ummi; I call her Cik D the baby sitter. She has a blog and you can read it here.

You can read my journal of scouting a babysitter around Shah Alam-Bukit Jelutong-Kg Melayu Subang here. This entry is not perjured to uplift her in a different echelon than other babysitters; this is just an epistle of love and gratitude to her for caring my daughter like her very own.

Dear Cik D / Ummi,

Given my stipulated confinement period, apprehension was never far from one’s mind worrying over my daughter’s fate. With increasing news on abuse at daycare or mistreat by babysitters, I was constantly agonized by these thoughts. Even though I decided to pass the ‘mother’ baton to you during the day, believe me the decision was not easy. I can still remember the very 1st day I handed her to you. It was 1st day of Ramadhan. As dawn had begun to erase the darkness, I stood in front of your door feeling so frail inside. Piya was so small and delicate. Tears were collecting in the rims of my eyes as I drove to Proton that morning. Yet, I leave everything to Allah and pray that you will never treat her with contempt. I convinced myself that this is just the part parcel to her upbringing.

1st day from Cik D
Piya when she was younger
ALHAMDULILLAH… for the past 1 year being under your care, I could not imagine a better babysitter. You treat all your children with equal love and extra care. Super delicious foods, hygiene house, well organized racks and doll them up prior to parent’s arrival after work. Coincidently all your children are in the same age group. Hence, I surmised it must have been challenging to care 5 babies at once. Even I faced topsy-turvy caring for Piya alone not to mention you caring for 5 babies.

Zameer - Aniq - Balqis - Piya - Caca (Abg Izqil takde dlm nih)
There are some times where you have glitches and I was caught by surprise. Better still, you are caring for 5 babies and it is irrefutable that it could have been worse if Piya was sent to a daycare. There is no such thing as a perfect mother; only the best mother that we can be.

Happy baby @ Cik D

You have been great, you have done well. You exist as an integral part of our life and Piya is imprinted by your love. Thank you for everything Cik D. May Allah reward your in many ways and flourish your sustenance. Selamat Berpuasa.

With love,

Mama Piya
